SKILLS ASSESSMENT:
Our Skills Assessment is based on observation, testing, and general evaluation. It was designed to make it possible
for individuals to receive fair credit for their knowledge and skills.
This evaluation is used for 1.) licensed Vermont cosmetologists who would like to acquire their barbering license,
2.) cosmetologists who have let their license lapse, or 3.) transfers from another cosmetology school.
The evaluator will choose, at his/her discretion, the appropriate number of hours needed to sit for the state
exam. A Skills Assessment usually lasts at least 4 hours. The fee is $50. If the student contracts for hours at OTC,
the Skills Assessment Fee will be put towards the cost of the course.
If the cosmetologist decides to pursue a barber's license, s/he must contract for a minimum of 200 hours; the number
of hours needed will be determined by the evaluator.
A schedule will be made up and modified based on the school's discretion.
